How Beer managed to define us....a history lesson

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadichunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundations of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1. Liberals, and 2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed. Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is knownas the Conservative movement. Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. Those became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men.

Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud or Miller. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, engineers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively.
Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today's lesson in world history. It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.

Kennedy gains Knighthood...dubbed Duke of Chappaquiddick

Knighthood just ain't what it used to be.....
Teddy will receive an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II, “I dub thee… Sir Osis of the Liver.” British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced yesterday during his address to a joint session of the U.S. Congress.

I wonder if they will give Uncle Ted a suit of armor? After all of the beer he has consumed in his lifetime, he should feel very comfortable surrounded by tin.
Mary Jo Kopechne's comment was "Now go away, or I will taunt you a second time! TELEGRAPH

Aussie straps in Beer...but not his kid!

A driver in Australia has been fined for strapping down his beer rather than his young child.Police said they were "shocked and appalled" when they pulled over the car south of Alice Springs in Australia's Northern Territory. They said the 30-can pack of beer was strapped down between two adults in the back, with the five-year-old child unrestrained on the floor.
I hope that kid was not sitting on top of those beers. I mean, they would've got warm. STORY

Belgium is worth fighting for!

Belgium long ago abandoned all hope of being a presence on the world stage and gave itself over to the pleasures of alcohol, chocolate, sex and seafood. To this day, it remains a nation untouched by nutrition. These are ideas worth fighting for.
In its almost total lack of ambition, in its unrelenting sense of existential dread, in its drunkenness and in its gluttony, Belgium is the most inspiring of nations. If the Belgians have tired of being Belgian, it is up to us to take their place. If Belgium will not be Belgium, it is up to us to be Belgium.
Belgium stands on the verge of disintegration. So should Belgium continue to exist? The answer is yes. Here’s why.

Octoberfest in Munich

With the traditional words "O'zapft is!" - "the barrel has been tapped" - the Munich major Christian Ude declared the Oktoberfest 2007 open.

From September 22 to Oktober 10 the world's largest beer festival will attract about six million people who are expected to consume innumerable litres ("Maßkrüge" in Bavarian) of the famous Oktoberfest beer.

In a related item, a German man who had been drinking heavily at Munich's Oktoberfest beer festival got stuck in a chimney for 12 hours while trying to climb into a friend's apartment, police said Friday.

In Keeping with Beer Week

German beer. Bought most cheaply in crates of 18 to 24 bottles. The only problem is that these crates can be heavy, especially when they're full of beer. (here, full of Kristallweizen):
If you dropped one on a small child, for instance, tragedy could strike -- you could lose several bottles, if not the entire case. Fortunately, you can always count on German ingenuity.
Behold the Paulaner 20-bottle crate When you lift up the golden handles on either side of the top, something charming happens:
