Belgians not able to pay heating bills

Almost, one in ten motorists with diesel engine vehicles are using diesel intended for agricultural vehicles or household heating purposes, for their cars.
At Belgian Customs and Excise, there has been a big increase in the number of drivers caught using so-called "red diesel".

According to a report in Saturday's edition of the daily 'Het Belang van Limburg', one in three families now have difficulties finding enough cash to pay for household heating oil. Journalists from the paper contacted the biggest distributors of household heating oil in Limburg to ask them if their customers were having trouble paying.
One in five customers now ask to pay for their heating oil in instalments.
Customers are also ordering oil in smaller and smaller quantities with orders of just 500 litres now no longer being the exception.
Meanwhile, the banks are now offing special energy loans that enable their customers to spread the payment of their heating oil bill over a whole year.
