A wicked googly.....Pigeon down!

A wicked googly in the UK. A routine relay throw in a cricket match, and it's lights out for a pigeon. If you want to skip the prelims, move it up to 1:10 and watch the bird "get it".

If you want to really see a bird destroyed, nothing does it better than American baseball when Randy Johnson still had his fastball.

Manny Ramirez doodle sheet

Manny Ramirez was suspended from baseball today for testing positive for a banned substance. He's denying it was steroids. But no one really believes him.

Sports Headlines of the week!

Canadian Poon has chicken pox!
Canadian swimmer Victoria Poon has been quarantined with chicken pox, according to CBC Sports swimming analyst Mark Tewksbury.
Poon, from LaSalle, Que., was taken to a local hospital in Beijing and didn't compete Sunday in the women's 4x100 metre freestyle relay team that finished eighth.
Poon, 23, who won the Canadian Trials in Montreal, was also expected to compete in the women's 50 freestyle on Friday, but her current condition may prevent her from participating.
Don't these people have copy editors?

Now That We’ve Got the Names, Questions Abound

Whew! OK, now you can all just relax and read the whole actual Mitchell Report. I'm sure everyone will be drawing up a Cognac and poring through it tonight.
I've pretty much looked at the whole thing -- it's a quick read -- and I can say with 100 percent certainty that we are no closer to the truth about steroids in Major League Baseball over the last 20 years than we were yesterday.
How does Sammy Sosa not make this list? Baseball is still protecting itself.

The Nutty Buddy

Do you have a person that is unusually difficult to find a holiday gift for? May I suggest the Nutty Buddy.

Former Royals pitcher Mark Littell, who has slightly lost his mind, is pitching a new product he has designed called the “Nutty Buddy,” he stands in front of one of those pitching machines aimed at his groin, and takes one for the team.

...In case their kids need encouraging, Littell’s cups come with macho names: “Hammer,” “Boss,” “Hog” and for really big men, the XL-sized “Mongo,” a salute to a the ogrelike character in the movie “Blazing Saddles.”

US sports on TV

European sports fans no longer consider American baseball, football, college basketball or even NASCAR exotic distractions between soccer games. "The world is flattening out, and we're seeing there's really a large number of people in Europe who have developed an affinity, enthusiasm and knowledge of U.S. sports," says Amory Schwartz, co-founder and ceo of NASN. "These aren't just people wearing Yankee caps because it's cool.
