North Face Sues South Butt

Jimmy Winkelmann might have a sense of humor, (you'd have to, growing up with a name like Winkleman) and he looks exactly like the name would imply....... but The North Face isn't laughing, he had reportedly tried to sell his brand to North Face for $1 million.

That’s why he started The South Butt, a parody of clothing company The North Face. Whereas The North Face tells its customers to, “Never Stop Exploring,” The South Butt tells customers to, “Never Stop Relaxing.” Apparently, The North Face also has the motto, “Never Have A Sense Of Humor,” because they’re suing the student and his parody company for trademark infringement.

Normally this kind of lawsuit isn’t news, but Winkelmann and his lawyer, Albert Watkins, (who also seems to have a sense of humour) are making it fun by pumping out quotes like this, concerning the frivolous nature of the lawsuit.... “The South Butt has previously made it clear to The North Face that the consuming public is insightful enough to know the difference between a face and a butt.”

I'm rootin for Jimmy and his lawyer.....but me thinks it was parody until he tried to get them to buy it, then it might have crossed to the extortion side.

Hat tip to my sis Robyn for this one

Blinded by a Thong

I haven’t reported on a thong since Monica Lewinsky’s under-garment of choice was uncovered during the impeachment of President Clinton. Well, the flimsy clothing item is once again front and center in the news.
The Smoking Gun has details of a woman who has filed a lawsuit against Victoria's Secret after she got hit in the eye with a decorative piece from a thong. She claims her eyesight will never be the same again.
Even thongs have their limits I guess....

Belgium Newspapers sue Google for 47 million

Who knew that Belgian newspapers were used for anything except toilet paper or fish wrap. I guess there is one thing that the the Flemings and Walloons can agree on....sue the guy with the deep pockets.

Belgian newspapers are seeking more than 30 million euros ($47 million) from Google Inc., accusing the U.S. Internet giant of using articles without permission for two years, their representatives said Wednesday. STORY

I read Tintin as a kid, and as a result, I hate everyone.

Sales of "Tintin in the Congo" have shot up by 3,800 percent after the CRE watchdog claimed it contained potentially highly offensive material, said The Daily Telegraph.
The comic has reached number eight on Internet retailer Amazon's most popular books list, the broadsheet reported.

When it comes to ginger Belgian reporters with such a backwards social interaction skillset that they're required to perpetually be accompanied by a small dog for company, Tintin is probably in the top three or four of all time. However, just because you're ginger, went to the moon two decades before Neil Armstrong and saw a big mushroom on a beach once, it doesn't mean that you can't be so racist that parents regularly cover their childrens' ears and run away every time you express any of your dubious views, as Tintin is discovering for himself.

As far as Americans are concerned, at least he's an equal opportunity racist!
