Colonel Robert L. Howard: A hero passes and you will most likely not hear a word about it.

One of the most admired heroes among all the heroes who have served in the US Army Special Forces died last month, was laid to rest on Feb. 24th.

The fact that his is not a name at the tip of every citizen’s tongue is a shame, as is the fact that I only learned of his passing through an email. (thanks Cal). Kudos to the Post for this fine obituary, but the fact that this wasn’t a front-page news item on every major news daily in the country speaks volumes.

In this Obama socialist society we live in today, it is good to know there are men and out there who serve the rest of us and protect those things so many of us take for granted. It is too bad we have to learn about them after they have left us when we as a nation could have learned so much from them.

Wounded 14 times in 54 months of combat duty in Vietnam, Robert Howard was awarded 8 Purple Hearts and was believed to be the most decorated living American. Those were real wounds people.....not the John Kerry type....where you nick yourself up enough to get sent home.

Colonel Howard served five tours in Vietnam and is the only soldier in our nation's history to be nominated for the Medal of Honor three times for three separate actions within a thirteen-month period.

He received a direct appointment from Master Sergeant to 1st Lieutenant in 1969, and was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Richard M. Nixon at the White House in 1971.

Colonel Howard is one of America's most decorated soldiers. His other awards for valor include the Distinguished Service Cross - our nation's second highest award, the Silver Star - the third highest award, and eight Purple Hearts. He was the last Vietnam Special Forces Medal of Honor recipient still on active duty when he retired on Sept. 29, 1992.

Gordon Brown snubbed by Afgan veterans

Gordon Brown was snubbed by badly injured Afghan veterans when they closed curtains round their beds during a hospital visit and refused to speak to him.

More than half the soldiers being treated at the Selly Oak hospital ward in Birmingham either asked for the curtains to be closed or deliberately avoided the prime minister, according to several of those present.

This would never happen to Obama.....because he'd have to visit them first.

Iraqi detainees taunt Wisconsin Soldiers about Favre

About the only thing worse you could say to a Packers fan is......Your cow doesn't produce enough milk to make cheese.

If you happen to be a Packers fan who is sick and tired of hearing about Brett Favre, and you're thinking of joining the National Guard and going overseas to get away from it all.... stop. It's not going to work. The detainees in Baghdad are going to be just as vicious as the Vikings fans you know.

Iraqi detainees are attempting to hit Wisconsin soldiers where it hurts—with Brett Favre jokes. After troops revealed themselves to be Packers fans by decorating their Wisconsin National Guard camp in Baghdad with the team’s colors, the detainees there apparently realized that Favre’s move from the Packers to the Vikings was a sore point, and “things just started going downhill from there,”

First Lieutenant Tim Boehnen says. "One of the big words they know now is 'shenanigan.' They'll constantly talk about 'Favre shenanigans,'” said Boehnen. “'He's so good for the Vikings,' and 'The Packers have got to really feel bad about that one.’”

The detainees themselves are more focused on soccer, but appear to be quick studies of America’s signature sport. “They’ll hear guards talking about it, and then they pick up a lot of stuff from that,” said Boehnen. “They’re very crafty.”

Detainees are reportedly also bringing up Ryan Grant's diminishing YPC average, showing soldiers the Aaron Rodgers Sack Tracker, and teasing them about drafting Greg Jennings when Brandon Marshall was still on the board.

The Belgian Army starts it's "Bullets for Kids" promotion

Belgian soldiers on exercise in The Netherlands caused outrage after it emerged that they handed out live blank ammunition to children in the villages.

The soldiers were caught on camera happily handing out the bullets outside a snack bar in Den Helder.

The children were spotted walking around with pocketfuls of ammunition by staff at neighbouring schools. One 11-year-old proudly told a television crew “from the soldiers”.

The code name for the operation was 'crazy trip'.....enough said.
