She succumbed to cancer at 62. Now this woman truly was an icon. What kid in the seventies didn't have this poster positioned squarely over his bed.
That poster alone was responsible for getting my adolesence off the ground.....I'll let you know when it's over. I'll be in my bunk.

Meanwhile....here's a Noxema commercial she did with Joe Namath before she was famous....you've got a great pair of hands.

Micheal Jackson dead at 50 in Los Angeles

A bus full of tourists thought they were driving up a fancy street to look at Michael Jackson's front gate. Instead, they witnessed the last moments of Michael Jackson's life.

Am I a going to hell for not giving a shit about this? Michael Jackson was a child molester in addition to being just a world class weirdo who inflicted himself on the rest of the planet.

Marilyn Chambers found dead (video)

People in the '70s knew two things about Marilyn Chambers: she had appeared as a model on an Ivory Snow box, holding an infant under the corporate slogan "99 and 44/100% Pure"; and she starred in Behind the Green Door, one of the first, weirdest and most popular hard-core movies in that brief period of the '70s known as "porno chic."

The adult film legend died at age 56.... found in her mobile home by a family member.

Chambers' death was a "total shock," [fellow adult star Ron Jeremy}]said, because they had been scheduled to sign a contract Monday to perform together in an off-Broadway "tongue-in-cheek" re-enactment of the porn classic "Deep Throat." "What's strange is that she was at a stage where she was totally happy and totally content with her life," Jeremy said. "Her life was falling together, and she was doing really well."

I saw Ron Jeremy at the airport in Miami one time...can't believe that guy is still working...must be the Viagra.

Where Have All the Graveyards Gone?

Decades ago, Detroit started experiencing white flight. Then blacks started fleeing too. Now, the Detroit News reports, Departed-Americans are departing......which is to say, their remains no longer remain.

From 2002 through 2007, the remains of about 1,000 people have been disinterred and moved out of the city, according to permits stored in metal filing cabinets in the city's department of health. Looked at in another way, for about every 30 living human beings who leave Detroit, one dead human being follows.

The paper adds, "Although there is little information or statistical evidence regarding the phenomenon across the country, it is quite likely that Detroit and its surrounding communities lead the way, as it does in population loss among the living."

Of course, some places make it more complicated for the dead to leave. For instance, in Chicago, they have to register to vote at their new address.

The Black Moses, Isaac Hayes, dead at 65

While the details are sketchy at the moment the news is out that Issac Hayes the man who produced the legendary ‘Shaft’ theme has passed away, just one day after comedian Bernie Mac.(perhaps better known to South Park fans as the voice of Chef) was found dead by his wife at his Memphis, Tennessee estate very early this morning next to a treadmill machine.

To paraphrase the Theme From Shaft, that man Isaac was a bad mother...Shut your mouth

Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis

Although this is world news by now, a bridge over the Mississippi near downtown Minneapolis collapsed during rush hour last night. The red arrow is where my condo is.

As of this morning there were at least 9 dead and 20 missing.
