A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the US mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere.

A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation.

London's East End is notorious for its criminals, from serial murderer Jack the Ripper to mobsters the Kray twins.
The latest candidate for this rogue's gallery is Janet Devers, a 63-year-old woman who runs a vegetable stall at Ridley Road market. Her alleged crime: selling goods only by the pound and the ounce.
Ms. Devers, whose stall has been in the family for 60 years, faces 13 criminal charges stemming from not selling her produce by the kilogram and the gram. She stands accused of breaking a European Union-instigated rule that countries must use metric measures to standardize trade.

The rest of Europe is metric. Good to know that the British government has nothing better to do than prosecute a 63-year-old lady for selling her veggies by the pound!

British couple's Costa dream home is demolished

In the "this would really suck department", A British couple living in Spain have become the first expatriates to see their home demolished in a move that threatens thousands of properties built on the Costas.
Helen and Leonard Prior sold their home in Berkshire and spent £570,000 turning an area of barren scrubland into a villa with heated swimming pool and landscaped gardens. They named it "Tranquilidad" in expectation of how they would spend their retirement. But yesterday, a demolition ball turned their home of the past four years to rubble.

Apparently, the European Parliament is about to open a new embassy to the UK: a very large office in Tothill Street, Westminster, employing 50 or more staff. The rent alone is said to be £1.3 million a year, and another £3 million to renovate it.

But their is a small problem, the plans are now for the EU to either buy outright or rent 32 Smith Square, which has been for years, the Headquarters of the Conservative Party.
The reason? Because the parliament accepts that "unless the institutions can find a building where they will be the sole occupant, permission to fly the EU flag or display other forms of externally visible identification will almost certainly not be given".
And why that permission will not be forthcoming is that having a huge EU flag outside the building will diminish the possible rental income from any sub letting. The reason given was that their is 'such animosity' in London towards the EU flag that it would drive away any potential leasees.

Doesn't the EU having an embassy there imply that Britain is outside the EU? After all, there isn't a French embassy in Paris. They already have the Queen.. who doesn't do anything.

Latvian girls urged to say 'no' to sex tourists

Latvian girls are being urged to steer clear of one-night stands with tourists as part of a campaign to prevent the capital, Riga, turning into the "Bangkok of the Baltic".

The move comes following a huge increase in visitor numbers to the country, which has become popular with British stag parties looking for cheap alcohol - and sex.

Latvian girls will be asked to consider very carefully whether they should agree to have sex with a visitor in return for a drink. READ ON
